Ocean Camper Hire FAQ’s

What’s included with the van?

All of our vans are fully kitted out with everything you need to get you started, including Cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cutlery, kettle, tea, coffee and milk. Torches, lanterns, chairs and table. The only things you need to bring are your clothes and bedding. (we can provide bedding for an additional charge)

What happens on the day of rental?

Please ensure you bring your driving licence and proof of address with you. There will be various bits of paperwork that needs to be completed prior to departure, once this is completed a full demonstration and familiarization of the van and kit and equipment will be provided.  Leaving you confident and rearing to go!

What happens in the event of a breakdown?

All of our vans have UK and European roadside assistance included in the cost of the rental.

What are the age restrictions?

Due to our insurance we are only allowed to hire our vehicles to 25 -70 year olds. We may be able to accommodate outside of this but you will need to contact us for a quote first.

Can the vans be taken out of the UK?

Yes, we allow our vehicles to go on hire outside of the UK to EU countries. You must declare this at the time of booking. There is an additional charge of 50GBP to cover European travel packs and EU roadside assistance.

What fuel do they take?

All of our vehicles are Diesel and will come supplied with a full tank, they should also be returned  full or an additional admin charge plus the cost of the missing fuel may be taken from your security deposit.

Can we take our dog?

We do allow for pets and this must be declared at the time of booking and is subject to an additional cleaning charge. This is deducted from security deposit at a maximum cost of £50 (min 25GBP).  

How many people can sleep in the van?

All of our vehicles can sleep and seat a maximum of four people.

Can we smoke in the Van?

Absolutely not and any sign of smoking may incur a charge against your deposit.

What documentation do I need to bring?

We will need to see your photo card driving licence along with proof of address. This must match the address shown on your licence and be no more than 60 days old. You will also need to run a DVLA Licence check and supply us with the code. https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

What time can I collect the Van?

All of our vans will be ready from 14:00 on the day of collection. You will need to allow up to one hour to complete the paper work and receive a full brief and familiarization on your vehicle.

What time do I need to return the Van?

We ask that the Van is returned to us by 10:00 AM on your last day in a clean condition and with a full tank of fuel,  late return will incur additional charges and may affect the departure time of the next person hiring our van.

Where can we park our car?

We have secure free parking on site and you welcome to park your vehicle there. We cannot however accept and liability for this.

How can we reach you?

We are located just outside Exeter close to the major roads.  If you are planning on getting the train or flying into Exeter Please speak to us as we may be able to arrange collection for an additional fee.

Can we bring our bikes?

Yes absolutely if you would like a bike rack we are happy to provide one for you, please choose this option at the time of booking.

What are your hire periods?

We typically hire our vans out for weekend, midweek, or weekly rental. Collection days are usually a Monday or Friday,  Other times may be available but please contact us first to discuss your requirements.

Do I need an electric hook up at a campsite?

Our vans come complete with an electric hook up cable for campsite connections, the vans also have two leisure batteries on board and these can be re charged via the engine or hook up cable. The on board batteries enable you to be hookup free for up to three days.

Can we take the van to a festival?

Yes but please contact us first as certain restrictions apply
